The information at site:
To speed up the construction of Tiger Island (part of the New Home for Tigers Project) and due to the higher costs of construction and daily expenditures, starting Jan.1,2011 the donation for entrance fee will be increased to 600 Baht for each visitor.
The necessary expenditures are tiger-food & other animal food, vet fees, upkeep; and 100 Baht from this amount will go towards the construction cost for the 'New-Home for Tigers' Project so that this construction can be completed as soon as possible , enabling us to rehome the tigers in a more natural forest environment in the temple grounds. This new island-like home will also be used to train future generations of cubs to be released back into the wild, where they belong.
-At any day, there may be deficit, surely it is a must to be topped up by the kindness of Abbot-Pra Acharn Chan (which are from his disciples' contributions).
.All of this is not for anyone, but just for our dear TIGERS
Many thanks for your generous contributions & support
W e look forward to your visit!
" Tigers arrived here for loving cure and care,
and the monks here have fulfilled this need.
Do we come here to view them,
is only the happiness that we feel?
Your donation of whatever amount
is like the bricks piling for building their NEW HOME.
You will be proud that
you are a part of their happiness in return."
How to get here:
Map and directions are as above.
Please note the monastery does not organize any tours or visitor pick-ups. We are simply open to the public. For any travel arrangements please contact a travel agent in Bangkok or Kanchanaburi town.
The monastery is open to the public from 12.00 pm to 3.30 pm. However, not much happens in the morning. The best time to visit the temple is between 12.00 pm. and 3.30 pm. If you arrive after 3.30 the temple gates will be closed and you will miss the opportunity to pet the tigers.
The tiger encounter:
At 1pm we walk tigers to the canyon and the visitors are given a chance to walk with the last tiger and to have their photos taken. On arriving to the canyon the visitors are taken inside one person at a time where they have an opportunity to pet a tiger and have their photos taken by our staff. Tigers remain in the canyon until approximately 4pm. Shortly after 4pm we take the tigers back to their cages for the night and the visitors are given another opportunity to walk with the last tiger and to have their photos taken.
Please do not wear any bright colored clothes, especially red. You will not be able to approach the tigers if you wear a bright outfit.
Ladies are asked to dress appropriately for visiting a monastery.
